Trek 2000 gets nod for patent

The Straits Times, 17 April 2002

Technology solutions provider Trek 2000 International said yesterday that it has received patent approval for its portable storage device, ThumbDrive, and expects strong growth in net profit this year.

"We expect at least double-digit growth for net profit in 2002," Trek chief executive Henn Tan said. "With this patent, we expect new orders to come in .. we are pretty optimistic that our business for this year should be better compared to last year."

For the full year ended Dec 31, Trek reported a net profit of S$7.2 million on a turnover of around S$98 million. Sales from its ThumbDrive solutions contributed 32 per cent to group revenues last year.

The firm has 10 patents pending and intends to file another five this year, Mr Tan said.
